I love being in a position where I get emails and information about the food industry. As these items come across my desk I use it as an opportunity to excite both myself and you!
This particular piece of info came from a trade show I do business with.
And I just had to blog out Whole Foods Improvements Noticed!
Here ya go!
“Whole Foods Market may be narrowing its price gap with Kroger, according to a report from Barclays. The price gap of fresh products at Whole Foods relative to Kroger narrowed to 18 percent in Feb. 2018 versus 29 percent in March 2017, and 37 percent in Oct. 2016. The price gap of commoditized products narrowed to 11 percent in Feb. 2018 versus 18 percent in March 2017, and 21 percent in Oct. 2016. For e-commerce, Whole Foods’ two-hour delivery is priced at a discount to Kroger/Instacart, ranging from two percent to seven percent for baskets $35-$50.
Meanwhile, about one third of respondents in Cincinnati and Dallas indicate they shop more at Whole Foods now since Aug. 2017, according to Barclays. In addition, one third of respondents in both markets believe prices are lower at Whole Foods now versus Aug. 2017″.
The reason I like hearing this is because I have noticed it myself (lower pricing, better quality products) and really thought I was losing it! As it turns out, it’s not my imagination. They’re really making Whole Foods what it once was… and I’m happy to hear it. Happy to compare the pricing of eating at their salad bar to other markets…. and happy to see products I don’t see elsewhere. When they have sales on items I eat or drink, I’m happy about that as well.
I really don’t understand why stores don’t make it easy on us. I mean, a store called “Whole Foods” shouldn’t be selling junk at high prices. And I love that they are starting doing demo’s for Kombucha and Nutrition Bars and for the week of the demo putting those items on sale, so you get a chance to try them at discount.
Keep up the good work Whole Foods!
Healthy Happy Eating,
