Hey! The Tribune put out their recommendations for Best Vegan Restaurants. But my recommendation today is a Restaurant Review: Ponte Vecchio -Trattoria- with both great plant based and not plant based options. That means everyone can eat there! I love it when a restaurant works to make dining inclusive not exclusive. It’s very intimate…..they’re right across from the lagoon relatively close to the ocean.
Rob is a New Yorker who bought this place about 15 months ago. It’s Northern Italian Cuisine and he has really ‘done right’ by the place. The food is absolutely incredible. The fact that they have a ton of vegan and vegetarian options, is also very amazing. If you’re not vegan, he’s got a bread he makes in house that is just incredible. And you can clearly see from the Eggplant dish pictured (not vegan) that it’s totally authentic, which is a nice change for a local place. And it’s great to have an intimate ‘local’ restaurant that both vegans and non vegans can go to, dine together and both feel satisfied!
He and his wife have other projects they are working on, that are amazing (in terms of serving people ‘without’). And I look forward to helping them and leading them towards good groups that really need their help – Centers with Cooking Classes for Foster Care Kids, for example, that lost their government funding.
In the meantime, I thought I would share some of their plant based mouth watering options:
VEGAN – GLUTEN FREE – VEGETARIAN OPTIONS
- Vegetable Marinara Ravioli
- Lasagna Cashew Cheese lasagna with spinach, mushroom, olives, zucchini, onions, garlic, and tomato sauce and Gluten Free Pasta Option
- Pasta Primavera – a Vegan pasta with zucchini, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and garlic in a white wine sauce
- GF Pasta Pomodoro and GF Spaghetti or Penne with zesty marinara
- Vegan Chicken Piccata
- Vegan chicken with capers and wine sauce
- Vegan Chicken Parmigiana
- Vedure ala Griglia
- Ravioli di Zucca
- Linguini di Fungo
Can you say YUM? The food, the ambiance, the staff comes highly recommended (by me). You can’t go wrong with this reservation. By the way, they are listed on OpenTable, so you can get points for dining there!
Feel free to let Rob or his Manager Marie know Chef Marian sent ya!
