Sunday is fun day. So let’s give you four Restaurant Reviews, in Ocean Beach. This part of California is known for hippies. I’ve been there once, but I want to go down again so today we pick the day to grab a couple of San Diego Foodies and a couple of Carlsbad Foodies and head down.

Foodies Unite!
Steve, Robyn and I go in one car to meet Phyllis and Ana Maria for dinner at Caio Elvira. But that’s not till 5 PM and being the foodie that I am, I talked them into going down early and driving around with me stopping into three additional restaurants just to try a bite here and a bite there and get a feel for the restaurant.
It all starts with the music…
I put the CD I created with lots of Neil Young and Crosby Stills Nash and Young on in the car ride down, to complete the mood. Robin says she’s really enjoying the music and singing along. Steve’s almost asleep. Lol. I guess it’s a chick thing.
Ocean Beach is certainly what they say it is. Lots of very cool vibes, old time housing and pretty cool graphics on the walls of buildings. Stoners walking around that replace what we see typically as street people. Truly harmless. A funkier version of the building side walls in LA, with graffiti. It’s a really creative vibe and a less expensive way to live than anywhere else in San Diego.
Parking is a pain with a capital P but it’s worth the trip.
Ready to eat?

We start out at The Joint. Happy hour from noon to 5 PM or was it 6 PM. I turned to my fellow foodies and say.: “That makes sense. We’re in OB and the place is called the joint.”.
Well, I think they should’ve called it the creative and expensive joint. Surprise! Surprise! Here’s the review. CLICK HERE
Steve says:”Eating all day, drinking all day with two beautiful women? It doesn’t get much better than this.”. Both Steve and Robyn in addition to Ana Maria are Founding Foodies Members of my group so it’s really fun for me because I’m with people that are just like me. They’re OK to have experiences and do tastings.
Next, we move onto Shwarma House. Just a little hole in the wall nothing place that everybody raves about that I just couldn’t pass up going to. It’s Greek and it is

‘family finest’. Here’s the review: CLICK HERE.
I’m pretty much asking everyone to just take bites and taking the rest home. I certainly don’t wanna be full or drunk for dinner.
Was every restaurant good?
No. You can’t bat 100% no matter what city you’re in. I based our ‘tastes’ on reviews I read and places I heard mentioned by others. The next stop? Right near our final destination which happens a half hour later: OB Noodle House. Some places are called ‘house’ down here. At least 2 of the 4 restaurants have that word in the name.
With Shawarma, you really do feel like they’re welcoming you into their home… With others, not so much.

Our final stop (and believe me we saved the best for last), is Ciao Elvira. Talk about a welcome home feel. We certainly did enjoy our experience. Here’s the review: CLICK HERE.
