I’m not looking to blame or shame anyone for how they eat. And I have tried keto, I was vegan for five years and everything in between to try to understand all the different ways to eat. My Keto Rant today is about common sense.
I opened my social media and there are 8 different reels on keto toffee. They even have toffee pudding.
There are two big things that bug me
The first is: a whole stick of butter and you say it’s good for me? When I do eat butter it’s clarified (ghee) or it’s grass fed (kerrygold). But I’m certainly not going to eat a stick of butter.

This one girl picks up a round disc of Toffee and I can tell you it looks like she’s going to eat the entire thing. It seems possible or even believable. So that means she’s eating a stick of butter.
The picture to my right is not the actual picture I saw. And it’s not put there to blame and shame. Just to show you what we are talking about. How big a mistake this is and what bad advice some people are giving out. If large amounts of butter were ok, I’d be making puff pastry every day of the week! lol
The second thing that makes me a little crazy is lifestyle changes. And these suggestions from Keto ‘experts’ give a person an entirely different perspective. Along with that comes the Keto lifestyle. Anybody who’s ever tried to diet knows there are three keys: portion control, adding more vegetables to your lifestyle along with healthier snacks or no snacks at all.
It reminds me of the vegan lifestyle where they have all this fake meat that is highly processed and filled with chemicals suggesting that’s better for you than grass fed beef.
Or fast food that is vegan.
Ridiculous!
Common Sense
What happens when we are all watching these reels? I don’t know about you but I start salivating. I go from Toffee Cookies, to Toffee Pudding to Chocolate Ganache, in my mind. Now I’m trying to figure out how I can get the flavor of a cake with chocolate ganache, without the calories. Don’t you think that’s a complete waste of my time and my brain power?
Except for special occasions, I think we need to be moving our brain power towards mindful eating and healthier eating. I always say everything in moderation including moderation. So I’m NO saint. I have my moments just like you.
But overall, I make my focus vegetables, that tastes great and small portions of protein and carbs that I add to it. I am telling you, being reminded to eat like I do is a much better focus.

Hey! Everyone I know thinks I am 20 years younger. They are completely shocked when I tell them I am 71 years old. I believe it’s because of a lifetime of eating healthier. I don’t take any medication. I do take some supplements. But I basically use food as my medicine.
I’m not my perfect weight right now. But I certainly know what that feels like, what that looks like. And that’s the kind of motivation I am looking for.
On top of that I am working with a doctor to figure out how I can regenerate all my cells.
I will keep you posted on how it goes but I honestly believe if we can work on the actual cells and getting them to function the way they used to, that my friends is the fountain of youth.
If you are on a quest to make the healthiest desserts and eat them every day you are on the wrong path. It’s hard enough to substitute in tangerines for sweets, Goji berries for snacks and steer away from everything your body can’t process (safflower oil, sunflower oil and all the other seed oil’s).

The one thing I know for sure
I love that Oprah came up with that. Because the one thing I know for sure is I want to always be at my healthiest… whatever that looks like for me.
I remember being at a party in Los Angeles. There was a producer there showing me a lot of attention. All of a sudden someone came up to me at the bar looked me straight in the face and said: “hi my name is Cybil what’s yours”?
I didn’t need to hear her name because when she walked up I knew it was Cybil Shepard, from TV and movies.
And why was she interested in me? Because the guy she was interested in, was interested in me.

What do you think good health brings? A glow on your face! A confidence in your gate. And people want to be around people like that.
So the next time (before you start watching reels of how to make Toffee, Keto style like I did this morning), just switch to something that is encouraging you.
This is the reason I have a membership to Chef Marian Kitchen Confident. We all need to support each other and I am just the pack leader, so to speak, with a couple of steps ahead of you. (Yes I’ve been watching too much Cesar Millan dog whisperer.) lol
But truly, I’ve spent so much of my time and money. Read so many books and cookbooks. Interviewed so many people. Taken so many courses……
I spent three years traveling the world, eating at Michelin star restaurants and getting trained and certified where it was possible. I’ve done fundraisers for the AIWF (Founded by Julia Child and Robert Mondavi). I’m creating a Jacques Pepin 90th Birthday Celebration in San Diego.
How would you like to work with someone who knows how to create? Someone who knows how to plate? Someone that can teach you knife skills and help you with your shopping so that your kitchen is better equipped to cook healthier?
I say this not to brag, but to let you know the Founding Membership starts next week.
It’s open for one week only and I’m only taking the first hundred people that join. With over 34,000 followers on my blog, in my groups and throughout my social media, it should fill up fast.

You will have access to videos in a cooking portal (and I add new one’s a couple of times a month). It is all FREE. It comes with the Founding Membership. Access to articles. Access to exclusive events.
You will belong to a community on Facebook whose goal it is to support another passion project of mine (“No Face Goes Un Fed” to end hunger in San Diego).
And we will meet not only on Facebook weekly, but have fun with Q & A on zoom twice a month. We will have breakout rooms, so you can talk with and get to know our other members.
Once a year, there’s a special event planned. It’s free to Founding Members. There’s also Founding Member discounts for events and retreats.
Interested? Get on the waitlist, to be first! Click HERE, scroll to the bottom and click! Or,

if you like simply click the QR code and that will bring you to Chef Marian. Scroll to the bottom and it will either be before Aug. 4th, where you can get on a waitlist or during the week of August 4th – 10th where you can actually sign up. When the doors close on the 10th, that will be the last time you can get my Cooking Portal for FREE just by being a Founding Member.
You remember all the bonuses you get right? A once a year special event exclusively for Founding Members. Discounts on Events and Retreats. And every month, there will be new cooking and nutrition videos in the portal, yours for free.
I am looking for people who are passionate about food because only Founding Members will be considered to work on “No Face Goes Un Fed”.
It’s going to be a great ride. $97/month. No contract. Cancel any time. And as always, I will continue to under promise and over deliver. You will get your money’s worth and a chef in your back pocket. A new friend in the industry that you can email questions to and get good answers.
Last piece of good news: Your cost will never go up. As long as you are a member in good standing, that price stays the same. And while there may be other memberships coming down the pike, this is the only Founding Membership for this one week that will be offered. It’s like getting stock in Amazon before anyone knew who Amazon was.
There will be affiliates of the products and ingredients I recommend that do giveaways and donate ingredients and product to our group. We will have special free raffles and a whole lot of fun!
Please remember: What I have to say should never be used in place of your own common sense or the advice of a medical doctor.
You know I have to say that!
You do you. I do me. And if we can make a difference in both your life and mine with this great community? Well, that’s what I am going for. Later in the week, come back here for a video with more insight about why I am creating all this! A YouTube video is in the works. You should receive it by Wednesday!
With garlic, gusto and gratitude,
Chef Marian🥂
