Mixology

I wrote an amazing article about Mixology…. but as luck would have it, in the process it disappeared. I shared a lot of personal info and perhaps the universe was advising me against.

So I will go back to the origins of the original incentive to send you a blog about Mixology or mixing your own cocktails.

Spritzer

I like Spritzers. In this case it’s Campari, bitters and Gin topped of with Prosecco. Take my advice: go easy on the Campari and Bitters… heavy on the Gin and Prosecco. Many people do something similiar.

Here’s the recipe from Rachel Ray :

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1/2 ounce Cynar
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Prosecco, to top

Looks good. Tastes good. And they key is blending the alcohol, storing it in the fridge first, then topping it with Prosecco when you are ready to serve. And to tell you the truth, it’s John…. Rachel’s husband who is really doing the creative drinking on her show, even though she has a bartending background. No surprise. He’s a musician that loves to be in the kitchen. Did I just rhyme? lol

I’ve seen this drink on Rachel Ray. Seen it on Valeries Kitchen, who Rachel Ray highly recommends and now, so do I. It’s an Italian drink everyone loves and surprise! Surprise! I love it too! Did you know if you drink anything out of a beer glass, it’s big enough to carry a half bottle of wine and a very thirsty pour of whatever else you’re making? So if you’re in your room and don’t want to keep going for more alcohol… just make yourself a big old drink, in a glass that really holds a lot.

In the time of Covid, where we are quarantined with family members that seem to be ‘acting out’ we need a line of defense. Mine has been the Spritzer.

For those of you that needed this help…. you’re welcome.
