The manipulation of the people by big companies. They’re calling it a ‘campaign’. Really. If you look at how they label their articles, you will clearly see their intention. DuPont’s packaging global market director, Yasmin Siddiqi is telling people the truth; that for every pound of beef that is produced, nearly 50 pounds of Greenhouse Gases are emitted, and afterwards putting his own spin on it, to make it alright.
I don’t mind telling you that when I saw the movie “Cowspiracy” and saw a chart that showed gases from cars at 3 on a scale of one to ten, and then cow all the way at 10, I was blown away. It even made me start re-thinking how I see the cow and cow products. What the movie pointed out was that in one patch of yard that a cow lives, used to feed a family we can grow enough food to feed the neighborhood. Amazing, huh? And what that does is to make each person know that they can effect the global foot print, by not consuming beef.
I know I can’t do with baby back ribs occasionally, but can I live without beef? Can I substitute ground beef for ground chicken and turkey and maybe hand only a handful of beef to that mixture for flavor of a sprinkling of beef broth, or not at all?
I think I can. Can you?
YES CHEF!
More news….
According to a recent article, when that same pound of meat goes unused and becomes spoiled, it is equivalent to burning roughly 3 gallons of gasoline. In an effort to limit waste and reduce environmental impact, DuPont makes packaging resins that enable meat to remain fresh for longer periods of time.
And that my friends is the DuPont spin. DuPont is saying ‘no worries…. we have done everything to stop waste and if you do to, it’s all good’. Sounds to me like the old days when cigarette manufacturers were in denial that cigarettes causes cancer.
I bring you this information so that when you start seeing DuPont’s ‘campaign’ you laugh.
You get it.
And hopefully you will start your own campaign to stop eating beef by participating in Meatless Mondays.
Yep.
We missed it yesterday, so let’s go with: Today is Monday.
THANKS CHEF!
You are very welcome!
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
