Go Green this upcoming year. That’s my recommendation.
I mean, I think we should change the things we can control to better ourselves.
When we look at the web, we see all kinds of things being promoted for the holidays.
But if we look a little closer, at for example …… 800-Candygram.com, we see options for vegans, gluten free, sugar free, organic dark chocolate, etc. So we are starting to see more options and should certainly support those companies making an effort! Yes?
YES CHEF!
Good. Go to it!
I have been talking about food, growing your own, buying boxes of food from local Farmers like Seabreeze Organic Farms and Farmer Leo…. and boy! Wouldn’t that be a great xmas present for someone? Maybe a family member? 6 months or a year of fresh fruits and veggies? (I’m available for adoption, if you’re buyin’)! lol
And then there’s your water. Go for PH balanced water. See other blogs of mine for details cause you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg. You know? Even baking soda neutralizes the PH in water.
Plus how about the shower? There are all kinds of wonderful easy ways to install filters for the shower, that take out the fluoride, chemicals and all the other things lurking in our water. It’s funny. We drink bottled water. But what we don’t think of? That same tap water (when you shower) goes directly into your pores and into your bloodstream, instantly! Just something to consider for the upcoming year… Filters! They’re a good thing! lol
And then there’s lotions, potions and makeup.
The Environmental Working Group recently sent me an email claiming: “Revlon and L’Oreal are putting their customers at risk.
How bad is it? These two companies are using chemicals associated with cancer and endocrine disruption, even though many other companies are reformulating their products.
It’s beyond the pale that Revlon and L’Oreal are still using DMDM Hydantoin, a chemical that releases cancer-causing formaldehyde, and four parabens linked to endocrine disruption. So EWG is calling them out and delivering a petition this month demanding that they remove dangerous chemicals from their products”.
So there you go! Some people are trying to have an effect, make a difference…. so that when big business has its’ agenda? We can stand up and say NO! Even though it may make you more money, Mr. Corporate America … we don’t want that in our XXX (fill in the blank… food, lotion, makeup, laundry soap, etc).
Living in California I think we’ve got the leading edge advantage. We seem to know more, care more, and try to have some impact. And does that mean a longer life? We certainly hope so!
We are all doing what we can!
Happy Holidays,
Chef Marian
