There is one single industry destroying the planet more than any other. But no one wants to talk about it. Cowspiracy. A new documentary. Good lead in?
YES CHEF!
Glad you like it because it’s all true. Just like ‘Forks over Knives’ changed my life, so did this new documentary, “Cowspiracy”. New info without actually pushing it. But who knew? Who knew that eating meat, growing cows contributes to more than 50% of our problems on the planet?
Here I am with the two men that created this movie. Kip and Keegan. So many young men and women are doing great things these days.
TELL US ABOUT THE MOVIE CHEF!
Well hold on.
I started this evening eating with a ton of ‘like minded people’ and a meetup group run by vegan expert and friend Tracy Childs.
And man! Was that food good.
Evolution in Hillcrest on 5th. It’s fast food for vegans. But it’s like no other fast food you’ve ever eaten. Everything is hand made…. or should I say ‘made with love’. It was absolutely delicious!
I mean, I ate dinner around 5:30pm, it’s now past midnight and I am still totally satisfied.
THE FILM, CHEF!
Ok. Ok. Wanna hear the best line in the film?
YES CHEF!
In talking about milk drinking, one man explains: “You are drinking baby calf growth fluid created to turn that calf into a 400 pound cow”. Ya think when they put it that way, we should be drinking milk? lol
Now you would think this movie is all about cows and how they are killed to try to gross you out into the mode of not wanting to eat beef. Right?
YES CHEF!
And then go onto talking about how we can influence government leaders into making new legislation. Right?
YES CHEF!
Well, what a breath of fresh air this documentary is. They just don’t go there. What they do is clearly show facts and figures that make you realize that in the same square footage that someone is housing a cow, you can grow way more plant based food ending world hunger and freeing up land to re-grow our forests. This movie makes you realize that the legislators are not going to make the changes we need, to fight global warming, re-grow our forests or get America healthy.
“People are eating badly 6 days a week instead of 7”. They’re talking about Meatless Monday. But now we are putting that into perspective. Now, I’ve always seen it as a ‘start’ …. So I don’t condemn it. But it does make the point. It’s not as big of an improvement, as we pat ourselves on the back and claim it to be.
Same goes with all of the environmental clubs…. Sierra Club, Greenpeace, Amazon Watch, to name a few, in denial or just keeping quiet for fear they will loose their customer base if they start talking about the real solution to our current environmental disaster that they should be standing up and protecting us against.
Go see this movie! There’s way more facts and figures I don’t have off the top of my head, that really make sense.
It’s a grass roots movement, that I am experiencing for the 3rd time, in my lifetime. The first was Woodstock and the hippie movement, the second was Al Gore, Global Warming, Forks over Knives…. all training me to become more awake and alive to how I want to live my life and make changes within my own life. And now? A new movement, the beginning of a new movement that motivates me to change how I see food, and make different choices based on common sense and concepts no one before this has presented to me.
You don’t have to become a vegan. But what you do need to do is see this film. Want to attend a screening or create a screening at a local theatre, like I saw this evening? These guys will donate the film for free: Cowspiracy. Tell Kip and Keegan Chef Marian sent you!
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
