Jacques Pepin Celebrates 90th Birthday!

In my beginning days, I remember watching Chef Jacques Pepin on TV teaching his grandchild how to

Jacques Pepin

cook. Of course there were days when it was just Jacques, but you could clearly see how important the ‘passed down to generations’ was.

When I got the opportunity to help him celebrate his 90th birthday, I just about went crazy. LOL

And he has a foundation that both you and I can help support. I did a YouTube video about the wonderful event we created with San Diego Foodies and Carlsbad Foodies at member Kathe’s home. When you are done reading this, I will give you the video to watch.

But today I want to talk about Jacques Pepin’s purpose, because we have that in common. I am building “No Face Goes Un Fed” to end hunger in San Diego. It will support people out of work with skills and placement. And we will support all the non profits I have worked at in San Diego, that have lost their government funding.

Jacques has a foundation with similar values and there is joy and hope to be found in contributing.

There is a second benefit to supporting Jacques birthday fundraiser.

We have asked that all the money we raise be used to support Kitchens for Good, which connects all three of us, with the same cause. And there are dots on the map nationwide with similar connections to Jacques.

Many years ago I was the lead Chef at Kitchens for Good, cooking up 150 Thanksgiving Meals and working with their crew. There’s something in your soul that makes this kind of volunteer work so satisfying.

So, if you find yourself on this sad day of remembering 9/11 and what to feel like you can somehow make a difference in this way, I hope you will take a look at the video (at the end) which gives you a QR code to reach Jacques and his foundation with a helping hand (filled with cash).

Big props to Tula, who persisted until we could finally meet on zoom to discuss the details and her wonderful experiences working with Jacques. The same thing she feels, is what we all got to experience during our ‘day into early evening’ event. Our Foodies Community here in San Diego keeps growing. And with every event I create, I get to personally know many of them. It brings tremendous joy to me to break bread with them during our Restaurant Reviews. There’s a lot of amazing, kind and beautiful people in this part of the world. And I find myself in gratitude.

This my friends is a blessing. And I do want you to think about all the blessings in your life too that fuel your soul.

It’s a blessing to still have Jacques Pepin with us and a blessing for the ripple down effect he has had in my life, creating this legacy that I will continue to carry forward.

Ok. Here’s THE LINK to the video!

If you would like to join our community, use this San Diego Foodies link to join us at our table!

With garlic, gusto and gratitude,

Chef Marian🥂
