This is the first time I’ve eaten food at Catania, La Jolla during the daylight hours, coming here last minute without intending to actually do a Restaurant Review. Pastry Chef Patsy and I decided this past Sunday to see what it might feel like, as a lazy Sunday experience. Personally, I want to check out the staffing, the ambiance and see if their consistency, which I have experienced time after time, year after year is still there. And so, this is a Table for 2, Catania, La Jolla Restaurant Review.
Every time we have done restaurant reviews with our group it has always been an amazing experience. You can check back on Yelp and other places to read up on it and see pix. Today, I went to post it there, but for one reason of another, it didn’t accept. So we are here on the blog, talking about yesterdays’ meal.
Here’s how we roll, on a Sunday at Catania, La Jolla
We really enjoy small bites and good flavor profiles. We order simply …. salad and pizza. The salad has pistachios and a light lemon vinaigrette, which motivates me to order it. The pizza has organic corn, tomato confit, 3 types of cheese and more.

I have eaten a lot of pizza, in my time and being from New York and a Chef who makes her own pizza …. I will say that this is a very different white pie and exceptionally well done.
When you can taste all the different elements and each bite is a different experience, now that’s something to savor over. Chef Patsy comments that it is just the right amount of goat cheese.
Our waitress couldn’t have been better, noticing when we need water and without interrupting, simply giving us what we need. She’s one of those waitresses you would like to take with you, everywhere you eat, just to get good service. lol
We eat just enough to be satisfied and then enjoy a lingering café latte.
Good friends, good conversation, good ambience and a delicious meal.
Sundays don’t get any better than this. I will say “Please leave a lot of time for parking on a Sunday in La Jolla.”
With garlic, gusto and gratitude,
Chef Marian🥂
