Here’s an opportunity to support Paint Encinitas and the Encinitas Community Garden. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of a community garden and have your own plot, now is the time to contact The Community Garden in Encinitas.
Artist Taylor Gallegos is the second artist chosen by Paint Encinitas to share his artwork. This group fills empty walls and paints electrical boxes around the city. It’s like they have in Europe. Random art! Only these are on walls and electrical boxes. If you have ever seen an electrical box, you know what I am talking about. (Scroll down and you’ll see an example at the bottom of this blog)! And I can tell you first hand, it is so appreciated!
Jax Meyers, the company’s Founder also hosts art events around the city to feature artists that help with her projects and either has a booth or is present at many of the citys’ events, to put a face to this group and give it a warm presence. She has been able to soul dier (soldier) up a strong group of volunteers that kick in at the events she creates!
Artist selection is a very lengthy selection process and Paint Encinitas welcomes any artist with mural experience to submit their work! They’re also looking for sponsors!
On Sunday October 26th you can have a nice family day out, right across from the Heritage Museum on Quail Gardens Drive. And you can support Paint Encinitas by donating to their Silent Auction, buying from their Silent Auction or just making a cash donation to help support the group.
I think it’s pretty incredible that without funding Paint Encinitas decided to beautify the city. If you go on their site, you will see walls turned into artwork and what that means especially to the community is that when you go by a wall, you feel good and you’re amazed. And they’ve also taken an electrical box, which you can see first hand at the event on the 26th… and turned it into something special. Grab a bunch of neighbors. Ten people kick in 100 bucks? You are supporting a wall! Approach Paint Encinitas at this event and tell ’em Chef Marian sent you! That’s a triple whammy! You do it for you. You do it for the community. And you do it for me!
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
