Studio Diner…. It’s a lovely place, with incredibly GOOD diner food (ikr)?
And before I review them, I should just mention they are participating in Burger Week. At the end of this blog, I’ll give you the full list of restaurants (even vegetarian restaurants doing not meat burgers)… but for the moment? Let’s talk about the Studio Diner. Yes?
YES CHEF!
Good. I promise you, it’s a place you will go back to over and over again for ‘good eats’ in San Diego.
Ok. Here’s what it looks like from the outside ———>
It’s a train car… just like what we have in New York.
Now, wait a sec…. didn’t I read he imported this from NY? Dragged it all the way cross country to give us an original ‘diner’ experience?
And since it sits next to a Film & TV Studio… (hence the name ‘Studio Diner’) you can order ‘Studio Fries’! I think on their website it says “Local Celebrities welcome”. When I last went last week… the hostess looked at my card and said “Oooooh. A local celebrity”, and (after the fact), now I know why!
Celebrity or not? It’s just a fun place with great food.
It’s your birthday? Dessert is on the house. Very ‘old school’ and that goes for whatever you order there. It’s what we always hoped Denny’s would be like – without all the grease, just with all the flavor.
Now, you can have a Waffle Taco for breakfast at Taco Bell, or dig into breakfast at Studio Diner. Way more satisfying….
And you will notice, if you go for lunch or dinner, there’s a beautiful salad. If you are watching what you eat? Don’t go there. lol…. I mean, go there and have the salad. And maybe a bite of your friends burger (like I did).
And for Burger Week? Here’s their special:
Burger Special 1: The Grip Burger: Fresh each day, ½ LB 100% beef burger, Brioche Bun, comes with red onions, lettuce, tomato. Served with Studio Fries. $5.00 You can’t beat that!’
