New Products

As a Food Insider, I thought you might like me to share some food news. I’m telling you that New Products are on the shelves now! I would rather not recommend brands I haven’t tried, so I will list what to look out for and if you have no success, contact me for company names….

How about Sunflower Flour? It’s Gluten Free, Vegan and Kosher. High protein with a nutty flavor. How do we want to flavor our cookies we now bake with new Sunflower Flour? How about Organic Pure Orange Extract. This is a 100 year old third generation family running a company that serves people worldwide.

Tired of Pretzels? Cauliflower pretzels just came out last month. The company wants to offer equal parts of flavor and nutrition. I like that concept! This is a fair Trade Ingredients, made with Gluten Free ingredients, not made with genetically engineered ingredients, and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

This February we also got a new range of matcha latte sachets  for matcha and latte lovers everywhere. The tea is made with natural and organic ingredients; no sugar or milk powder. The company claims the product contains 10 times the nutritional value of regular green tea. Some of our well known tea companies like Stash have recently come out with a Japanese-style green tea and juicy Asian pear tea. Nice!

In March, we started seeing Coconut Oil based French Vanilla Coffee Creamer on the shelves. Let me once again remind you that more and more people, educated people are coming out against digesting Coconut Oil because of the level of Saturated Fat. So a splash here and there. No more.

When I make my Vegan Mac N Cheese, I use grapeseed oil plus Chef’s 00 Flour to create a paste or roux, then add vegan cheese and vegan coffee creamer, usually something unflavored. There are so many choices…. just check out the shelves.

And last, I’d like to say how completely impressed I am with Costco. I was there yesterday and they have an amazing choice of plant based options. Someone asked me: “how does Costco have this many vegan options”? I replied: “they follow the money”. And I think that’s true. We actually can change the world around us. Keep buying plant based organic ingredients and there will be more and more of them, for less and less money….. especially here in California!
