Exhausted. Something had been coming on and as I tried to cure it homeopathically I realized TOO MUCH unsugared cranberry juice can be BAD…. (not a good visual)…..(write me if you really need to hear about it at mm@chefmarian.com).
Yes. Chef Marian was NOT ‘feelin’ it last night, but dragged herself downtown to support ElderHelp, a REALLY good charity.
You know ALL of our charities have been hit hard by the recession. So in whatever way you can help, please do!
My personal target right now is feeding hungry kids. Most of my events result in me writing a personal check to the charity of my choice.
But I want to say there are three people I support the most from this event last night.
Can you pick them out of the pictures above and below? (Raise your hands if you know the answer)…
And the winner is…….
Do I have to give away a car to get your interest? XD
Well, Michelle and Ken who run Fast Forward Events (you may know them from the San Diego Bay Food & Wine Festival we have downtown every year) have taken their company from a ‘wanna be’ to ‘I am here, rockin’ it’! And that’s just what they did last night as hundreds of people turned out for this spectacular event of food, wine, song, dance, gambling and merriment!
And their special host? Chef Bernard Guillas. Well, how can you NOT love Chef Bernard Guillas? He’s personable, and as good in the kitchen as he is with you in person. He was on microphone, generously talking about all the food and wine in the room encouraging everyone to visit all the booths. Funny, charming ….. I am sure you will agree he is unlike most chefs you will meet. We hope to have an event at The Marine Room in La Jolla soon!
And of course, when we talk about wine in addition to all of the other wines represented we had my friend Katy and her hubby from Carpathian Wines. I will say “of all the wines I tasted, theirs was the best”. So there you have it. You’ve got a Chef Marian quote about some good wine.
And I will also say I am happy to report our next event is at Sbicca May 2nd WITH Carpathian Wines. Give me a jingle and I will save you a seat – 858-224-2550. Did I mention I worked with Chef Ian from Sbicca and put together ‘taster’ plates of more than A DOZEN menu items, to do a real ‘tasting’ of their menu and pair that with Carpathian Wines? Come on foodies! Get your tickets now!
Back in a day or two with more fun recipes and ideas for events to attend!
Kisses,
Chef Marian
