Always good to review Events Past and Upcoming Events in San Diego! This past weekend was the kickoff of an annual event called Lemon ‘Aid’. Their goal is to raise money to send kids who are deaf or hard of hearing that come from low income families to Literacy Camp this summer. Cool, huh?
And it was so much fun! Great music, wonderful vendors happy to talk to you about their products and services. People feeding you (they had a lemon ‘tasting’ that was the bomb)! I love, love, love lemon meringue pie… but it was way more than that!
Trisha runs the program and there’s a link here you can click on (just above) if you would like to get involved next year.
Whether you are someone who likes to volunteer and be part of the excitement, or you have a skill like social media or marketing to offer, all help is always appreciated.
Speaking of Social Media and Marketing, I totally need help! It’s not that I can’t do it myself, but there aren’t enough hours in the day, isn’t enough budget to hire anyone. Although I will say that I have been looking at more creative ways to use help that will generate cash flow for everyone!
I am on stage at the Del Mar Fairgrounds 4 times, for the last 2 summers, teaching healthy cooking and giving out samples.
It’s such a joy. When people don’t know about food, don’t know the benefits of everything they eat, it’s so gratifying. This summer, my theme has been “Food is your Best Medicine”. I have had other chefs and people who are nutritionists on stage with me, educating. I’ve also video’d these shows and plan to have them up on YouTube shortly!
In the meantime, I’m at the Fairgrounds Thursday at 2pm cooking in the Family Area on the Outdoor Stage. And then again next Tuesday. It’s always fun and delicious! Don’t forget we are doing a Vegan Lasagna Cookoff next Tuesday and my guest is Vegan Expert Tracy Childs. Come join us if you can! And come up and say hello (tell me you read the blog)! We always do a free raffle (we give away items to 3 audience members). This week is special: I am giving away on Thursday, one hour with me in your home, showing you, based on what you have in your fridge and pantry what you could be making that is both healthy and yum.
If you are someone who would like to be part of the Chef Marian Marketing Team, if you would like to make calls to get me speaking and teaching engagements… we will find a way to make it work!
All this work is to fund my foundation, “No-Face-Goes-Un-Fed” to end hunger in San Diego. It’s a cause worth fighting for!
There’s a contact me at the bottom of this page… Looking forward to hearing from you!
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
