Does Carbohydrate Restriction help you get healthier?

I am sure we are all wondering: Does Carbohydrate Restriction help you get healthier? Well I know that that was on my mind when I did some experimenting and try keto for a month. What keto actually taught me who is head of many carbs I’m actually eating a day.

How many carbs am I actually eating?

I mean, I had no idea that eating a bagel with breakfast (or bread), than maybe a sandwich for lunch and then either pasta or pizza for dinner was probably 2 1/2 times the amount of carbs I personally should be consuming in a day!

My friend Josh Noland believes in high protein. As a matter of fact, he just came out with The Protein Lifestyle Cookbook, and I think it’s worth buying.

I was reading his blog and it stirred something in me. As a lifestyle choice, I have been doing two things: Cutting down on carbs while I put together an Anti-Inflammatory guide to eating, that will personally help me heal joint pain, by building more gel between the bones, based on what I eat.

Here’s what he has to say:

What Is Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction?

Overview

  • Definition: TCR is a strategy for cutting back on carbohydrates to better manage blood sugar, improve insulin sensitivity, and support weight management or other health goals.
  • Metabolic Benefits: Lowering carb intake can reduce insulin “spikes” and support healthier insulin function. Over time, this may help with conditions like type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, or PCOS.
  • Whole-Food Emphasis: While TCR limits carbohydrates, it doesn’t eliminate them entirely. Instead, it steers you toward nutrient-dense vegetables, low-sugar fruits (like berries), and other whole foods while reducing intake of sugary snacks and refined starches.

Josh Noland has books and a blog. If this is something that calls to you, he’s the guy for answers. Just reach out to him HERE. As a bit of a testimonial, who watched Josh grow from a guy working in a kitchen for his dad into a smaller, fit version of his former self, whose health has improved greatly, I will say his high protein lifestyle has certainly worked for him.

We all know that every ‘body’ is different. And usually you know if something sounds or seems right for you. That being said, I am sure he agrees with me that you should not take anyone’s advice over your own good common sense and it’s always a good idea to check in with your doctor especially if you are taking medication.

Hope this helps. Having fun myself, with being in the planning stages of my own anti-inflammatory lifestyle creation. More to come on that!
