I was listening to someone speak yesterday, someone who was selling a product, and as an ‘aside’ she mentions her husband takes a shot of Bragg’s Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar every day. He also told me about weight loss results which is why I am bringing Cure Your Weight Issues? to you today.
When I questioned more, he told me it works wonders on your insides, that it removes plaque, old scarring tissue and things that are getting in the way of your body freely processing food. So, before I hop into an Apple Cider Vinegar Vat, I thought I would do some research for both myself and you.
So what is apple cider vinegar? How is it created?
Well, according to Mind Body Green, “It’s made from apple juice and is fermented to hard apple cider. It’s then fermented a second time to become apple cider vinegar”. I’ve learned it’s simply ascetic acid. Here’s a list of great things they say apple cider vinegar (ACV) can do for you. They say take some and rub it on your teeth to remove stains. It gets rid of Candida, balances what goes on inside your body and it can even be used for an after shave. Use it as a cleaner around your house or as an air freshener. Most of their recommendations tells you to dilute it.
Now, let’s get to what they say about weight loss:
“For daily weight management, add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to 16 ounces of water. This concoction can be sipped throughout the day. Data shows some limited, yet significant, weight-loss benefits from sustained daily intake of acetic acid (which is a main ingredient in ACV).
In a 2009 study published in Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, it was found that subjects who consumed acetic acid for 12 weeks experienced significant declines in body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference, and triglycerides. Triglycerides contribute to the bad cholesterol that we want to avoid”.
Wow! Or Ba Boom! Those are the two things that come to my mind.
But let’s look around on the web first, and see if there are any bad side effects.
Lifestrong says that too much of a good thing, is not a good thing. They highly recommend you dilute it when you take it, saying that it can aggravate the esophageal wall. Well, that’s good to know. They also say it can erode tooth enamel. (So much for taking the ACV and rubbing it directly on your teeth, as was advised prior)! lol
But they also add more info about what it’s good for: arthritis, asthma, ulcers, urinary tract infections.
My ‘go to’ is usually WebMD. Here’s what they say:
“Consuming apple cider vinegar in food amounts is LIKELY SAFE. Apple cider vinegar is POSSIBLY SAFE for most adults when used short-term for medical purposes.
In some cases, consuming a lot of apple cider vinegar might not be safe. Consuming 8 ounces of apple cider vinegar per day, long-term might lead to problems such as low potassium. There has been one report of a person who developed low potassium levels and weak bones (osteoporosis) after taking 250 mL apple cider vinegar daily for 6 years. In another report, a woman who had an apple cider vinegar tablet lodged in her throat for 30 minutes developed tenderness and pain in her voice box and difficulty swallowing for 6 months following the incident. This was thought to be due to the acid content of the tablet”.
Woman who are pregnant or breast feeding and diabetics are not recommended to use this product. They say interactions for both insulin and for people taking diuretics can be a problem.
So, not pregnant. Check. Not breast feeding. Check. And not taking diuretics. Check.
I think I’m good to go. I will try this for one month, the 15th to the 15th and let you know how it affects me.
