Interesting title, eh? Breakfast: How to play with yourself!
Well, what was I going to call it? This blog is going to teach you how to swap out and minimize so your are actually eating healthy but it feels naughty. Good? Feel naughty yet?
YES CHEF!
Now, this is not the blog for you, if you are vegan. You can easily rummage through the other 300 blogs to find one’s that speak to you.
This blog is for the average Joe or Joan who likes to eat but overeats at breakfast, and it’s not helping their waistline!
Now, before you even look at the picture… do I have your eyes?
YES CHEF!
I want to tell you I usually eat a couple of eggs, 4 links of sausage, some home fries and either a bagel with cream cheese or a couple of pieces of bread and butter. Sound right?
YEP! THAT’S ME TOO CHEF!
But you’re looking at a thousand calories for breakfast, right? A bagel equals four pieces of bread! And we haven’t even talked about the OJ or mimosa if this is a Sunday morning, right?
RIGHT CHEF!
Ok. Check out the picture. Doesn’t that look yum? You’ve even got organic catsup, without the hydrogenation of regular catsup on the potatoes, gumming up your system. And I am testimony to the fact that this was a great breakfast. So here’s how I changed out my food…..
First: One egg over easy. Not two. If you need more egg? Use another egg white to bind the concoction. Two links of sausage cut in small round bites. Not four. Two links of chicken apple sausage. Not pork. Mushrooms. Not mushrooms. lol Caramelized onions. No sugar. Just brown on your onions. Two slices of potato. Not an entire potato or home fries. They call it home fries for a reason, no? lol These potatoes are lightly pan fried. Not in a ton of oil.
Now, I’ve taken that thousand calorie meal and changed out the two potatoes for bread (I really didn’t miss the bread), changed out the pork for chicken and gave myself all the fun of eating a great breakfast.
Seduced by Breakfast…. again!
HOW MANY CALORIES CHEF?
Maybe 300 calories, tops? It is tastes of things that satisfy…. not platefuls. And I wasn’t hungry afterwards. I wasn’t!
Will you give it a go, maybe this weekend?
YES CHEF!
You’re a good listener. I like blogging for you.
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
