I couldn’t let this ACLU video go by without sharing it. Is there even an ACLU these days? lol
Actually, I did let some time go by… I received this months ago, many, many months ago… but only got to open it now, because it came from someone trying to sell me something.
Ok. Go click on the video and see why I forwarded it, and then come back to read the rest of this….
Are you back?
YES CHEF!
Ok. Here’s my question: Do you have that problem? Where you are so overloaded by spam and emails of people that are trying to sell you something, that you only open emails you are expecting or recognize the names of ….? And then one day you wake up and find you have 5,000 emails in your inbox that are bold… which means they’re not opened….?
Geezzzz….
I have spent my entire Saturday and Saturday night, cleaning out my box….. 4 company boxes and 3 personal boxes…. And isn’t it great that I have no social life outside of events I create, so that I can busy myself with crap like this on a Saturday night? lol
SORRY CHEF.
Me too. But you know? I always say I am sure that my soulmate is making his way to me as we speak… So no worries!
My real problem is that having been so successful in business in my past requires someone who has also had a modicum of success himself. Should I sign off, ‘stuck in San Diego’? lol But actually this is paradise. So if I have to be single, this is a great place to ‘grow’ myself until the time ‘he’ shows up. So again? No worries! I like to rant. But I’m actually ok.
No worries about my agenda going forward either (keeping my emails organized). I will keep deleting DAILY (I mean we’re talking HUNDREDS daily ~ it’s almost a full time job)…. so that this does not happen again.
But, don’t you agree there’s got to be a better way? People have told me about Sanebox and other programs… but really…. if my emails go directly into files (Outlook does that too, as I recall)… will I actually go into those files to read them? No. I think not.
So, I will stay with manual, unless you have a better idea…. You can email me if you do.
OK CHEF!
So, I’m sure you are wondering what motivated this rant…..
YES CHEF! WASSUP?
My computer had a heart attack on Thursday and for 24 hours I was ‘out of touch’. Most people would call it a hick up, but I call it a heart attack because I no longer had emails coming into my in box. Here’s what happened: I lost my charge. Apparently when the computer is low, it warns you. But if you don’t pay attention? It dies. And when that happens? You have to reset your calendar and time. Has that ever happened to you?
YES CHEF! THOUGHT I WAS ALONE ON THAT!
Well, you’re not. It blows me out every time, because sometimes I have the computer on and not plugged in, because it has full battery charge… I go out of the room, get busy with something else? Come back? The computer is dead.
It happens!
Worse yet? This time, it wouldn’t remember my passwords in order to send and receive mail. When I spoke with Apple over the phone I explained that my iphone also hadn’t been sending properly for months. And messages I have sent just sit in my outbox… and I don’t see it until days later, bummed out that people didn’t get messages I sent, sometimes timely messages that I sent.
So first, we addressed that. He told me to delete the email and re-install. As he walked me through that, he realized (not being a mac person) that he didn’t know how to do that. (Would have been nice to qualify him about Apple. Next time.)
So now, not only did I have no emails coming in on my computer? But no emails on my phone either! lol
LOL
Oh yeah. That was rolling on the floor laughter. ROFL
(Was that before or after I vomited)? lol
Anyway, it’s a stress out…. any way you look at it.
So off to the Apple Store I went. But it wasn’t that easy because I didn’t have the code required to register for an appointment. About an hour later, after re-setting the password, I was able to register…..
And you know? It doesn’t matter what is going wrong with the computer. Every time, I mean every time I go to the Apple Store, they tackle it, tackle it, tackle it until they figure out what’s wrong. Sometimes they bring in their boss to figure it out, but (as in this time), when a very unusual thing goes wrong with the back end, he was able to diagnostically see what was going on ‘in the background’, figure it out and fix it! Bravo! Apple! Bravo!
I guess that’s really why Apple gets my bucks. No matter how crazy it gets? They always take care of me and make me whole.
Hope you liked the video and my rant about Apple….
Happy Eating,
Chef Marian
