The Trip to a Plant Based Lifestyle sounds easier than it is!

Straight out of the vegan mainstream google+ group comes this link to Kaiser’s recommendations to head yourself to a Plant Based Lifestyle. (See below for link after you’ve read this).

But the Trip to a Plan Based Lifestyle sounds easier than it is!

I would say it’s ‘well done’! Beautiful pictures, professionally captured. If nothing else? Use it as a template for how to create a readable booklet! lol

I am not sure if all their recommendations are things I could or would follow. But it certainly does give me inspiration.

Inspiration and trepidation. I mean, if I were to go vegan, I hear all the ‘options’ of what I should eat as difficult to incorporate into my busy life. You’re out with friends? In the booklet they want you to eat a mushroom burger, instead of a turkey burger. So now you have to hunt down a place that actually has mushroom burgers. And then, what kind of oil are they using? I went to a really delicious vegan restaurant the other day. Everything was perfect. But when I asked: “What kind of oil are you using”? The answer was canola. And unless and if it is organic canola you are eating something genetically modified. And that’s not good!

And if those are the stumbling blocks for me? I’m sure I am not alone!

NO CHEF! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

I am hoping that over time I will be able to steer myself away from animal fat and protein. I know I’ve already given up sugar, processed food, animal fat and chemicals. But the last piece of that puzzle is animal protein. I don’t eat red meat, but I’m still in the ‘give me a good rack of ribs’ phase. I could actually live without chicken and fish. But, shrimp? I’m going to have a hard time with that one too.

They say thoughts are things, and that these ‘words’ probably aren’t helping me. But I have to lay it out to see my areas that I need to work on. lol You know that old story, right? Where the shoemakers kids go shoeless?  I’ve been doing really well, cooking for my accountant for example and slimming her down. Good way to get accounting services on trade, right? lol

But how do I get the 15 pounds I gained from stress this year, off? Well, the first thing I am doing is partnering with a group that has a trainer, yoga, massage, acupuncture, etc. Then, I bring to the plate my nutrition and food classes. Then I bring Lori in. She does Metabolic Balance. And she says: “I’m going to put you on this program so that you can create the recipes for me”.  My path is clear. Metalbolic Balance for 3 months, to get my insides healthy. Then, perhaps the vegan itch will call to me again. I think once I’m healthier vegan may be the next step for me. And after watching Cowspiracy….. (and it’s not about watching cows getting slaughtered, more like showing how we can heal planet earth with some good decisions, and one of them is making us a plant based world), my head and heart are into it.

But remember, for all of us (including me) it’s one step at a time. Better portion control, knowing you need less calories as you age, and trying with each meal, with each new day to do better!
