Tax Day lunacy and Roses to Make you Smile!

Tax Day
Tax Day

So, my sweet pea…. how many hours did you wait in line to get that certified stamp on your taxes? Yes. We’re talking about Tax Day lunacy today!

I waited an hour and a half. But not for my taxes, but the franchise tax board that needed to be filed today. The line went all the way down the length of a deep store and out the door. It’s amazing what can happen, what conversations can take place when you are forced to slow down… forced to interact with people around you that you might not normally meet and forced to become patient and accept ‘what is’. But the most important thing I shared today is: It’s not just you. We’re all over worked, over whelmed, and sometimes over come with emails, other people’s agendas and expectations, our own expectations and deadlines for all the bills, renewals, tickets and whatever else life throws at us.

I met a woman in remission from cancer, and another with Hotchkins Disease. The woman with Hotchkins says that most people don’t know what’s wrong with her, they get scared and just walk away. Both women are looking for things to do, things to volunteer for, things to create in their lives that bring them joy. I suggested they make a list of everything that brings them joy…. then fit those things to volunteer jobs or new jobs they can do going forward. I mean, it’s just like what we were doing in line…. experiencing an opportunity again to slow down, re-evaluate, and go for the stuff that makes you smile.

And they both agreed, it was the stress of life that led them to bad health. I work very hard to calm the noise…. and relieve myself of the stress others around me create.

I tell you over and over, it also has to do with what you’re eating. Fast food? French Fries? Sees Candy? Chinese Food from Restaurants? All sounds great, but not easy for that body of yours to process. I think that disease stems from inflammation which comes from both stress and disrespecting your body by not eating right. And I do understand the need to reach for a snicker bar, under stress.
But how about a snicker ‘bite’? They do have bite size candy these days. Just sayin’…..And how about sharing a crazy meal at In & Out Burgers, sharing the french fries by ordering just one, or sharing a bunch of See’s Candy. Probably more fun when you share anyway!

Today was an interesting day. I spent my morning and most of the day in meetings with people that either I’m helping or they are helping me to create more revenue and a better life. But there’s more joy to be found in the unexpected! I had a business associate and friend come over to discuss a “Travfest SD” we are planning to put on in September. It’s the idea of learning how to plan your trips so they’re more fun, less expensive and that gives you the opportunity to travel more. This is the year I would like to plan a cruise that has nothing but classes….opportunities to cook, and do all kinds of things you’ve always wanted to learn in your ‘down’ time. So hooking up with industry people is a great idea for me!

And guess what she brought me?
Home Grown Roses
Home Grown Roses

Home grown roses that put a smile on my face and smell the way roses should!

Yes. It did bring back memories of when I grew my own and filled the house with vases…..But at the end of the day…. What did I learn?  You have to go for things… whether they are tied to a paycheck or not. If it feels right? Do it!

Today could have been the most stressful day of my life but here’s the mantra I used: I don’t know how I’m gonna accomplish this, don’t know where the money is gonna come from, but I know somehow it will all work out.
