Review: Pine Mountain Logs at The Belly Up

Pine Mountain Logs
Pine Mountain Logs

You know, I play a bunch of instruments and sing harmony. And I do Restaurant Reviews as a Healthy Chef. Yet, I have never reviewed a band or an event at a music venue. My evening last night was so good, that I must blog about it. So enjoy this Review: Pine Mountain Logs at The Belly Up.

First off, who came up with that name? Geez! That doesn’t describe anything about who they are and what they do. And still? The place was packed! From what I understand, the band members are actually a group called Venice. Yes, they are from Venice, CA. And they do their own original music as well. But this band I saw last night was all 70’s and 80’s ‘covers. Oh, and one more thing? Do you remember The Lennon Sisters? Some of these band members are the kids of The Lennon Sisters. No wonder the harmonies are amazing!

I am the same girl who spent weekend after weekend going to The Filmore East watching people like Miles Davis, Dave Mason, B.B. King and others jam their brains out and entertain us. And I would be out of my seat dancing the entire concert. The music moved you.

And that was my experience last night. bringing me back to my 20’s. So many good song performed so well. It was just amazing to me.

Donna, Tom and me! Taken on an Iphone in a dark room - Sorry!
Donna, Tom and me! Taken on an Iphone in a dark room – Sorry!

I went with Tom and his wife Donna. They’re a great couple! I noticed Tom jotting down all the songs, amazed that he seem to know every song and group connected…. so I asked him to send them to me. What really blew me away is that I was a Radio DJ during those years and my claim to fame was that I knew every word to every song written during those years, because of the dj’ing and the fact that I play piano, guitar, etc. so I was always playing from ‘fake books’.

The fact that he REALLY knew every song and I DIDN’T, surprised me big time!

Read the set below, and tell me if you would have enjoyed the show too!
