Refugees

We are feeding our families. We are feeding our friends. But our souls are crying out, for the confusion that surrounds us. Can I get an AMEN?

AMEN! CHEF!

None of us know what to make of today’s world. But I would like to talk about Refugees since that is our hot topic of the moment.

Everyone is from somewhere else. Everyone’s grandparents or great grandparents spoke a different language, had a different accent. Everyone has their own ‘click’, their own ‘tribe’.

Everyone went through their own adjustment. Some did adjust. Others did not. But everyone tried to fit in. Everyone flashed a smile. Everyone did their best to lend a hand. And everyone in America has valued America enough to blend where they can and become this wonderful melting pot.

How about if we just ignore what is being said and live our lives to our best values?

There’s no room for heartless. There’s no room for brainless. And there’s no room for what I like to call stupidicus. That’s what I scream out when someone cuts me off. (You may borrow that word).

Here’s a little song I wrote,

You may want to sing it note for note

Don’t worry.

Be happy.

REFUGEES

They have no need of our help
So do not tell me
These haggard faces could belong to you or me
Should life have dealt a different hand
We need to see them for who they really are
Chancers and scroungers
Layabouts and loungers
With bombs up their sleeves
Cut-throats and thieves
They are not
Welcome here
We should make them
Go back to where they came from
They cannot
Share our food
Share our homes
Share our countries
Instead let us
Build a wall to keep them out
It is not okay to say
These are people just like us
A place should only belong to those who are born there
Do not be so stupid to think that
The world can be looked at another way
