Name Changes of Unhealthy Ingredients

Change in the Name Game
Change in the Name Game

A special Thanks to Richard Cinta from my group A Great San Diego Chess Meetup, who passed along this picture from Real Farmacy. Basically we are talking about Name Changes of Unhealthy Ingredients.

It confirms that there’s plenty of old school brands that are making claims and instead of just blindly believing them, research is needed.

In addition to these ‘gems’ uncovered, I’m not sure about a Mac N Cheese that claims they’ve taken everything unhealthy out, so now you can eat your old favorite.

I made Mac N Cheese the other night without a drop of butter or cream. Now that’s a healthier version. I’m just not sure about the ‘powdered’ stuff.

By the way, if you are interested in seeing me on stage at The Fairgrounds next Month, I’m there 2:30pm – 3:30pm June 5th and 18th. You will learn more about ‘Food is Your Best Medicine’ and ‘Cancer Fighting Foods’.

Getting back to this blog: I’ve heard from the breakfast cereals that they will follow suit. But seriously? High sugared anything is not healthy. And instead of getting some solid protein and veggies for our meals (like a veggie omelet for example – and who knows at the end of the day if eggs are even healthy, although I am personally ok with them), we are getting GMO Corn, or Wheat (read Wheat Belly) or Rice. Nothing but sugar and carbs.

So when we talk about healthy eating, we first know that carbs turn to sugar, and on top of that experts are saying that sugar = inflammation, inflammation = disease. So I want to ask you, how are boxes of cereal healthy? You tell me!

I CAN’T CHEF!

Of course you can’t. I can’t either.

The way I am handling my food these days is this: Out of my 21 meals a week, 15-18 of them are vegan. So I don’t drink milk (haven’t for a while), and when I am in the mood for cereal, I go to Jimbo’s and buy 4 different bags and boxes (millet puffed, with no sugar, chocolate o’s with more sugar and then I pick 2 cereals that are 8-9 grams or less in sugar). I mix all FOUR, giving the average amount of sugar in each serving a lower gram count. And before I eat the sugar, I grab a small handful of almonds. That reduces inflammation of sugar because your glycemic index doesn’t spike as high.  So that’s how I roll.

I don’t feel deprived, although I no longer have the rule of a glass of wine with dinner or a beer with a hamburger. I can tell you when I do, I find out that except for really good wine or beer, I’m not missing anything…. except probably the calories. So that’s a good thing!

If you like the info in this blog or these ideas, pass them through your social media. And feel free to ‘get me going’ on a topic. Just let me know what you are wondering or worrying about, and I will research and then address it!

Happy Healthy Eating,
