Heritage Museum Battle of the Beans in Encinitas on the 28th! Come show us what ya got!

Heritage Museum Battle of the Beans?

I’ve been asked to judge Restaurant Contests in Los Angeles, but never anything this creative!  I can’t wait!  It’s a wonderful family day…..

Saturday, September 28th from Noon to 4pm

The San Dieguito Heritage Museum

5th annual Lima Bean Faire

BATTLE OF THE BEANS Cook-off …..

that includes a walk in the Heritage Museum, documenting Leucadia to Carmel Valley and the warm history of pictures including old time ‘surfer dudes’. It’s amazing! So cool that this is where we live!

A Petting Zoo? Cake Walk? It’s all here for a wonderful Saturday to either attend, or cook for. Cook? I dare ya!

Your Challenge? Make a bean dish that is so good that bean lovers will swoon, and bean haters will be forced to admit to liking them.

Be creative, think outside the bean pod! And if you want some free

Lima Beans to cook up for this event? Call the museum!

Over the past four years, the lima bean has been the star of the cook-off.

But if you’re creative, and it’s a bean, we can change all that!

Enter soon! Local chefs? At least in your own kitchen?

This is your chance to shine! And compete with Restaurant Chefs!

Not against! But with! Won’t that be cool to meet Chefs from our area?

All categories are divided into amateur and professional categories.

Let’s see who can bring the most taste & style to the Battle of the Beans, while vying for cash prizes and the coveted Lima Bean Trophy.

Last year, hundreds of local tasters arrived to enjoy a wide array of tasty bean-based dishes of all kinds, with a chocolate-lima cake winning the Grand Prize!

Your mom’s circa 1963 lima bean casserole is not going to cut it in this competition. See those who thought outside the bean pod last year?

You can view a listing of last year’s entrants and winners on the

Heritage Museum website:

Battle of the Beans!

Current entry forms and guidelines are  available on the same website & will be accepted until Thursday Sept. 26.
