Get thinner and healthier? Are there tips you haven’t heard yet?

Who would have thunk it! You can get thinner and healthier. But there are some important tips you need to know. Tips I didn’t even know before I started the research.

LIKE WHAT CHEF?

Well, we all know that grandma used to wake up in the morning, boil some water and either have tea or hot water with lemon. Come to find out that was a good idea.

Curtin University in Australia did a study recently and they talked about it on Dr. Oz. What they came up with is that 82% of the participants that had 4 (count ’em) FOUR cups a day or either green or oolong tea did not get cancer.

Now how they can assess that it was the tea alone that helped prevent cancer? I have no idea. And I have particular issues with solo studies, since we hear about a study one week, and then the next week another study says the polar opposite. It’s just like coffee. One year it’s got great antioxidants and it’s good for you. The next year it’s really, really bad for you. And now this year? They’re saying you should have 4 cups a day. But that’s crazy. Both you and I know that….

However I will say I did learn one good tip: You have to steep your green tea 20 minutes to get the best value, the most antioxidants. When I told a friend this she said: “Geez, that’s going to be bitter”. Well I’m here to tell you it just ain’t so! I added a half a lemon squeezed and it was a great tasting tea. No sugar. No milk. No creamer. That’s the way you have to do it, if you want the best affect.

And Dr. Oz is calling it Green Tea Lemonade, claiming it melts your fat. He’s also saying to use Forskolin Supplement. And I’m just never sure if he recommends things because he or his clients have tried it……. or he has a financial interest. I started feeling this way several years ago, when he started recommending we drink milk, because that was one of his sponsors.

Anyone who knows anything about milk and cheese knows todays’ products are pasteurized and for the most part our bodies don’t digest them well. I mean, it’s not what milk and cheese once was. Certainly not as fresh as the milk left in the milk box. Geez. Did I just say that? And are you wondering what that is? lol

In my childhood though I do remember the small box by the front door and magically on Monday mornings there would be glass bottles filled with milk in there. And others have told me about their experiences with 2 inches of cream floating on top.

And first hand I can tell you I’m way thinner, way better when I don’t eat dairy these days. (So I know what’s best for me). And I’m hoping that is how you think too. I mean, every ‘body’ is different, right?

RIGHT CHEF!

Give up dairy for a month and see if there are any differences for you. Maybe nothing. Maybe everything. Either way, you save $30 each visit to the market, when you’re not buying 3 bricks of cheese! lol

Well, ok, Dr.Oz. You’re on! I’ll drink 4 cups of green tea lemonade a day and report back next week what my results are. If I’ve lost weight? I will have more faith.

But let’s get real. No matter who we’re following or listening to, that’s what we have to do – take the challenge to see if it really works. And over time? We get to know if we can trust what we hear from others.

Can you tell I trust no one when it comes to research? lol Now, if I hear the same thing over and over again, if different studies show me the same result, I might take the risk. I may choose to believe….

Overall I think we are all being used as guinea pigs. The studies for the most part ARE NOT in, and we take our lives in our hands when we can’t picture something growing out of the ground and eat it anyway. And now we have to take it one step further and protect ourselves from pesticides etc. even if it was grown on the ground or on a farm.

But you have to live. There in lies the rub…. my friend.

If you learn one thing from me? This summer? Don’t deny yourself corn on the cob. Don’t let Monsanto and their genetically modified experiments take away your history of eating. But save yourself from letting them experiment on you. It doesn’t cost much to make the switch. Eat only organic corn! lol

Happy Eating,

Chef Marian
