The Body: What’s Going On Inside and Out!

Food Combining or not?
Food Combining or not?

The Body…. that’s my topic today, because if and when we know better, we can do better. Right?

We often see what happens outside our bodies, but have you ever thought about what happens inside?

If you contract a rash you can see you have a rash. If you get internal inflammation or worst yet cancer, silent clues may keep you guessing or unaware.

Food is your best medicine. I learn new things every day about that and I’m always amazed…..

And we have to look at not only what we are eating, but how well that food is delivering the nutrients to our system.

Today we are going to explore how the body processes food and enzymes with a goal of keeping your body alkaline

because disease can’t grow in an alkaline body.

But if you are aren’t knowledgable about enzymes, you might think you’re eating right, might think you’re getting the foods that keep your body alkaline, when in fact you’re not!

If you go online and check out alkaline bodies…. many sources agree that:

A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruit help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

Just the facts… as we know them today.

I’m sure you are wondering what Enzymes do….

Enzymes are like little soldiers breaking down your food (to be usable for the body).

This whole ‘food combining’ thing…. I never really got it and I’m not saying that I can even follow it, but I will say that now that I know the logic behind it, I’m sure I can be more mindful.

After several conversations and continuing conversations with Joe Gary, from the “Let’s Stay Healthy” community he has created, I’ve come to realize some information that is  new to me, that I thought I would pass on to you.

And again, I’ll put a qualifier on that: See your doctor and do your own research. There’s so much conflicting information out there, that you’ve got to make sense of it for yourself.

Joe’s info? Here ya go. I’m paraphrasing:

So… enzymes either in your mouth or in what you’re eating, help you process food.

If you combine foods that have their own enzymes, you will confuse your body. And that’s why for a while, we had a ‘craze’ about food combining. But I don’t think the information ever really reached the masses. Plus I don’t think in the world I live in, it’s actually possible to always do the right combining.

But at least it’s good to have the information and experiment with our own bodies, to see if some of this can actually work for us, in terms of processing the food we eat.

For example: If you are eating fruits and vegetable together, the vegetable enzymes might go to work on the fruit and visa versa. What happens? Nothing gets broken down properly and you don’t get the nutrients you’re ingesting.

Now there are exceptions. If you wanted to do a lettuce wrap with romaine, and create an apple/goat cheese lettuce wrap, that works.

This is just a starter for you. A taste of what works, and why. Need to know more? Hop on google or Joe’s website!
