I have a new Summer Series that I am doing with San Diego Foodies called Food &…… (topic), gathering a panel of experts or people with knowledge in their field to discuss some of the issues (some say do it this way, others say do it that way) along with food I prepare or food at a restaurant. So we are talking about Products and Services (exploring the issues of your industry), Photography, Websites/Social Media.
I am the moderator on this, and no one gets to hear about who you are (first names only) until the very end, after you have established your credibility. Then, as moderator, I will say who they have been listening to. It’s a much more effective way to network, and promote yourself without any ‘sales’ to it. And the people who attend really benefit, by gaining knowledge – all sides of a topic, not just one speaker.
As a Radio Newscaster for 15 years, I am pretty good at stimulating conversation with good questions. Of course the panel and I will meet prior, to suggest topics and questions.
